Auburn guard Chad Baker-Mazara, a key component to the Tigers’ recent duo of SEC titles and Final Four run, announced his move to the transfer portal Thursday morning following two seasons with the program. Baker-Mazara will have one season of eligibility remaining.
“First I wanna thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to do what I love but I wanna thank my teammates, coaching staff and the Auburn Family for the incredible support for this past two years! With this been said I would be entering the transfer portal. Gracias Auburn,” Baker-Mazara said on an X (Twitter) post.
Baker-Mazara was an All-SEC third team member this past season averaging 12.3 points per game, starting in 34 of his 38 appearances for the Tigers this past season. The 6-foot-7 guard scored in double figures in 25 of his 38 games last season – including separate streaks of six and seven straight.

The now fifth-year senior guard notably received two double technicals in two of the Tigers’ biggest games over the past two seasons; the first in the opening round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament against Yale and the second in the 2024-25 regular season finale against Alabama. Both games ended in losses for Auburn.
Baker-Mazara set a new SEC record by making 51-straight free throws before missing his final attempt at Texas on Jan. 7, also breaking Wendell Green Jr.’s school record of 34-straight free throws during the 2022-23 season in the process.
Bruce Pearl and his staff will continue to look towards the transfer portal as the rebuilding of the Tigers’ roster continues after losing 10 scholarship players, due to either graduation or the portal, following the loss to Florida in the Final Four.

Auburn has already added KeShawn Murphy, Keyshawn Hall, Emeka Opurum and Abdul Bashir from the portal as well as Sebastian Williams-Adams, Kaden Magwood and Simon Walker from the high school ranks.
