Auburn wide receiver Malcolm Simmons was arrested early Wednesday morning, per the Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrest records.

Logged into the database just after midnight, Simmons was officially charged with domestic violence and strangulation or suffocation, according to the arrest description, and his bond is currently set at $20,000.

The speedy wideout, coming off a breakout inaugural season on The Plains, was expected to be a key contributor in his sophomore campaign and predicted to start alongside Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton Jr. and phenom Cam Coleman. Simmons recorded 451 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 40 receptions in 2024.

Simmons' arrest comes eight days after linebacker DJ Barber was arrested during a traffic stop, in which Barber was found with Marijuana. Barber's arrest left him facing two felony charges and a dismissal from Auburn's football team. It remains unclear if Simmons will face disciplinary actions from the program.

This is a developing story. The Auburn Plainsman will update when more information is provided.
