Auburn running back Damari Alston is officially off the team after an announcement coming from head coach Hugh Freeze today following many rumors of his departure.
Alston was a senior for the Tigers and was voted by his teammates as one of the team captains before the season began. He had accumulated 32 carries resulting in 128 yards and a touchdown so far this season.
"Damari failed to meet the expectations and the standards of our program," coach Freeze said, "We love him. We wish him the best."
It is unclear at this time the full story on the reasons for Alston leaving the team but having only played four games he will retain eligibility for next season with a redshirt if he chooses to use it.
