Standout freshman Deuce Knight reportedly plans to enter the transfer portal.
Deuce Knight (9) celebrates touchdown against Mercer in Jordan - Hare Stadium on November 22, 2025.
The former five-star quarterback was one of the best recruits during the Hugh Freeze era and was supposed to be the future starter for the position in the coming years.
Knight was a big part of the success in Auburn’s most recent 2025 recruiting class as he helped convince many of the players in the class to come together to make up the eventual top 10 recruiting class. Knight would finish his freshman year with just one start where he threw for 239 yards and ran for 162 yards, amassing six total touchdowns.
This news follows a pattern of transfers for Auburn over the last month, most notably with star receiver Cam Coleman announcing his plans to leave Auburn and opt for the portal just yesterday. New head coach Alex Golesh and his staff have been struggling with the portal and will have to hope to use it to their advantage now to fill many positions and, most importantly, fill the position of quarterback.
