Lee County deputies arrest three in connection to animal cruelty

On Jan. 12, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 10:45 a.m. regarding possible animal cruelty in the 8100 block of Lee Road 146 in the Beauregard community. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 29 deceased dogs in the backyard of the home.

The animals ranged from puppies to adult dogs, and were reportedly placed in plastic bags and left in a pile in the backyard. 24 additional animals were found inside the residence, which investigators say were alive but emaciated. Lee County Animal Control arrived on scene and took possession of the animals.

Curtis Dewayne Haralson, 63, Patricia Ann Sims, 54, and Tiffany Ann Sims, 27, were residing at the residence and were transported to the Lee County Jail following their arrest. The investigation is currently ongoing and all individuals will reportedly face felony charges.
