On Feb. 6 at 7 p.m., the results of the Student Government Association elections were announced on the steps of Katherine Cooper Cater Hall. After a week of campaigning, candidates and supporters filled the area waiting to find out who won.
In addition to the turnout of candidates and campaigners, there was a large body of voters. This year in 2026, 33,513 students were eligible to vote, and 9,947 voted, making the voter turnout 29.68%.
Major Candidates
Willis Orr won the race for president by a 36.12% margin, with 5,451 votes at 68.06%. His opponent Landen Childress received 2,558 votes at 31.94%.
Lilly Pool won the race for vice president with 4,064 votes at 51.78%. Her opponent Colin Hale garnered 3,784 votes at 48.22%
Jackson Moore, who ran unopposed, was named treasurer with 6,416 votes.
The new Miss Auburn is Riley Johnson, who won the race with 3,668 votes at 53.04%. The Miss Auburn race used rank-choice voting, which was implemented last year.
Minor Candidates
The first set of announcements were for the minor candidates.
First up was the College of Veterinary Medicine. McKenzie Steury secured the seat of senator. Sarah Tays was announced as the next vice president. The presidential race did not have any candidates.
Next up was the College of Sciences and Mathematics. There were three available seats for senators, and these were filled by Elizabeth Hathcock with 272 votes, Victoria Livaudais with 296 votes and William Green with 318 votes. These new senators narrowly beat fellow candidates, Lane Falone and Blakely Johnson. The role of vice president went to Ellie Freeman. The winner of COSAM President was Catherine Winter.
The next set of winners was for the Harrison College of Pharmacy. There was one seat for senator available, which went to Lily Baldwin. There was no vice president candidates. The president position went to Courtney Robertson who received 112 votes, or 66.67% of the votes, against fellow candidate, Jonathan Mann.
The College of Nursing followed. The senator seat went to Connor Jones. Vice president went to Ansley Sharpless. The position of president of the College of Nursing went to Holly Roberson.
Next was the College of Liberal Arts. Four senator seats were available, and these went to John Logan Long, Cole Doerschuk, Winchester Bolton and Anne Werber. The winner of the vice president race was Harper Alspach. Rylee Watson won the presidential race.
Auburn's College of Human Sciences went next with Margo Branrup securing the sentor role. Hannah Jacobs won the vice president position, with no candidates for president.
There were no candidates for senator, president or vice president for the graduate school.
Next up was the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment. The seat for senator went to Graham Martin. Vice president was awarded to Ava Lukasavige. Samantha Hauth secured the role of president.
Samuel Ginn College of Engineering was next with five senator seats available. The five seats went to Brannon Spencer, Jackson Lovvorn, William Benz, Julia Bueche and Giles Jones. Vice president went to TJ Parnell. The role of president went to Morgan Wootton.
Auburn's College of Education followed. Brooke Fligel was named president, and Natalie Izzo was named vice president. Will Ward and Mimi Dorough were announced as senators.
The Harbert College of Business followed with the most available senator seats of the election cycle. Six seats were available, and these went to Morgan Klein, Adair Smith, Max Welkie, Kate Hardee, Tee Parker and Lucy Anderson. These winners narrowly beat fellow candidates, Nicholas Sherwood, Edward Davis, Henry Deriso, Claudia Hamberlin and Brian Faircloth. Vice president went to Addison McGahan and the position of president went to Shea Hinckley.
Next up was the College of Architecture, Design and Construction. Two seats for senator were open, although there were no candidates to fill these roles. Tyler Mitchell was announced as vice president. There was no candidate for president.
Last up was the College of Agriculture. The position of senator went to Mia Green. Preston Haney beat candidate, Samantha Imbach, for vice president with 173 votes at 55.1%. Hayden Wolfe was announced as president.
The five seats for at-large senator were filled by Emily Ingram, Hannah Congo, Fletcher Hughey, Trey Pritchett and Jack Starrett, who amassed more votes than opponents Phillip Wilson, Drew Daniel, Barbara Pippin, Kimy Campos and Jalen Walker.
Dr. Jeff Jones, professor in accounting, won the final lecture professor award.
As the winners were announced, cheers erupted from the large crowd. For students who could not attend, Auburn's Eagle Eye TV presented live coverage of the event, which can be found on their YouTube channel.
