The Auburn Tigers’ softball team won its third straight game comfortably Monday night, taking down the Florida A&M Rattlers 8–3. This week, the Tigers will play against the South Alabama Jaguars before returning to SEC play to take on Missouri for their third conference series this season. After taking two out of three games in a home series against Kentucky to kick off the SEC season, Auburn ran into a tough opponent in the No. 5 Oklahoma Sooners, who swept the Tigers in Norman. Auburn has now picked up three straight wins since that series and appears to be heading back into conference play with much more confidence.
In typical fashion this season, Auburn’s offense came out of the gates hot, scoring three runs in the first inning alone and putting the Rattlers on their heels. After a one-out single and a stolen base from shortstop Alyssa Hastings, right fielder McKaela Walker walked on four straight pitches, followed by a single from first baseman AnnaLea Adams to load the bases. Auburn made the most of some mistakes from the Rattlers, scoring on two straight walks followed by an error, giving the Tigers a quick three-run cushion.
The second inning saw the Tigers’ offense go back to work. Second baseman Daigle Wilson drew a leadoff walk before stealing second and third base. After a walk from left fielder Kylie Shaw, Hastings returned to the plate and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. An RBI double from Walker in the next at-bat scored Shaw and put the Tigers firmly in the driver’s seat, up 5–0 in just the first two innings.

Florida A&M responded with two runs in the top of the fourth inning, capitalizing on an Auburn error to cut the deficit. Auburn answered with its final three runs of the game in the fifth inning, effectively putting the game away. A single from third baseman Haven Roebuck, followed by a home run to right field by DP Delaney Aumua, put the Tigers up 7–2. Auburn then recorded back-to-back singles from catcher Ava Ratliff and Wilson, followed by a sacrifice bunt from Shaw. With runners on second and third, Hastings recorded her second RBI of the game on a sacrifice fly to left field, giving the Tigers their final insurance run.
On the pitching side, Tigers starter Abby Herndon threw three scoreless, no-hit innings, striking out three of the nine batters she faced while allowing just one baserunner on a walk. Herndon was relieved in the fourth inning by Malayna Tamborra, who tossed two innings and gave up two unearned runs while striking out two batters. Charley Butler threw the final two innings in relief for the Tigers, allowing one run but securing the win for Auburn.
The Tigers will be playing again on Wednesday, March 25, at 6:00 pm CDT at Jane B. Moore field. The game will be available to stream on SEC Network.
