Freshman guard Kaden Magwood has entered the transfer portal, marking the second Tiger to do so. He announced the decision on Instagram Wednesday.
Magwood was a former four-star and top-60 recruit in the 2025 class out of Combine Academy, which is part of the Overtime Elite league.
Magwood could never get it going for Auburn this year, appearing in just 20 of the team’s 38 games. He averaged 10.6 minutes in those 20 contests and finished the season with 3.6 points and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 38.6% from the field and 27.8% from 3-point range.
The 6-foot-2 guard appeared in the first 15 games of the season but did not play again until the start of the NIT. He served primarily as the team’s backup point guard from the beginning of the season through the Texas A&M game. Magwood started the first two games of SEC play, logging just 15 total minutes.
Magwood finally got another opportunity in the NIT, making his first appearance in a game since Jan. 6. He showed some flashes, recording a career-high 14 points against South Alabama in the first round, connecting on three 3-pointers to go along with three assists.
“I told him, ‘Keep making me look bad,’” head coach Steven Pearl said last month. “‘Because the more you make me look bad, the better it is for our team.’ He’s responded well, and I know he’s excited.”
The Louisville, Kentucky, native’s most productive game of the season before South Alabama came in November, when Magwood played a career-high 19 minutes, recording six points, a career-high eight assists and two steals.
Magwood joins fellow freshman Filip Jović as the two lone portal entries so far.
