No. 1 Auburn heads into this week looking to build on an already dominant season and snap its streak of runner-up finishes. Despite consistently placing near the top of the leaderboard, Auburn will be aiming to turn those strong performances into a win.

In a previous appearance at the event, the Tigers entered the week eight shots off the lead before mounting a comeback, delivering a round-best 16-under to secure a five-stroke victory. Billy Davis and Josiah Gilbert both finished at 1-under-par, with Davis posting rounds of 70-74-68 and Gilbert 71-71-70. Both are set to return to the lineup for this year’s event, bringing valuable experience and familiarity to the course.

In addition to junior Billy Davis and sophomore Josiah Gilbert, Jackson Koivun and Cayden Pope are set to compete in this week’s tournament. Koivun, the nation’s top-ranked player, recently recorded his seventh consecutive top-10 finish, posting rounds of 65 (-6) and back-to-back 69s (-2). Pope has also been a key contributor, leading the Tigers with a runner-up finish at 13-under-par and enters this week ranked No. 46 nationally.

In its last outing, Auburn competed at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational in Palm City, Florida, finishing as runner-up to No. 10 Texas Tech. This marked the Tigers’ third runner-up finish in their last four invitationals. After leading through the first two rounds and building a four-shot edge after day-one, the finish left a bitter taste for the Tigers. Pope ended the weekend tied for the third-best score among all participants at 13-under. Koivun added yet another strong performance, recording 17 birdies, the most of any Auburn player. With 451 career birdies, he ranks eighth in program history and is just 58 shy of making the top five.

Auburn’s record speaks for itself. The Tigers hold a 106-19-2 overall record and remain No. 1 in the nation despite facing some of the most competitive teams, positioning themselves as one of the most dangerous teams in collegiate golf.

Auburn will be competing against four strong SEC teams, including No. 4 Ole Miss, No. 16 Vanderbilt, No. 29 Mississippi State and No. 70 Kentucky. Vanderbilt will have an advantage, as this is its home course, adding another challenge to the field. The Tigers have shown they can produce low rounds and dominate fields. Now, their focus shifts to finishing this week strong.
