Freshman forward Sebastian Williams-Adams announced his return to the Plains via Instagram on Friday, joining Kevin Overton and Simon Walker as the first Tigers to commit to Steven Pearl’s 2026 squad.

Williams-Adams represents the first big man Auburn has secured for next season, a much-needed commitment after the Tigers lost Filip Jović to UCLA early in April's transfer window.

A four-star recruit out of Houston, Texas, and Auburn’s highest-ranked commit in the class of 2025, Williams-Adams averaged seven points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists across 21 starts and 38 appearances this season. Compiling 1,039 minutes on the floor, he played the third-most minutes by a true freshman in school history.

Despite some inconsistencies on the offensive end of the floor, especially in SEC play, Williams-Adams put together a promising assortment of game-defining performances. He shot at a 62.5% clip in 15-point and 14-point performances against Bethune-Cookman and Merrimack, respectively, to start his collegiate career, and compiled 11 points and eight rebounds in a January victory over South Carolina.

Most importantly, he stepped up big in the postseason, dropping 15 points in just 19 minutes against Seattle in the NIT quarterfinal and punctuating his freshman campaign with a 13-point performance in the NIT championship game.

A stellar defender in the paint and on the perimeter, the 6-foot-8 power forward brought much-needed one-on-one skills to a group that often struggled to play airtight defense. He was relied upon heavily on the defensive end and faced some challenging matchups deep into games, setting the Auburn freshman record with 47 steals in the process.

Heralded as a potential first-round pick in the 2027 NBA Draft, Williams-Adams has a long developmental runway and is primed to take on a full-time starting role next year. With a refined offensive skillset and improved decision-making, he should be a foundational piece for Pearl’s group moving forward and could find himself in a considerably elevated offensive role come November.
