Auburn guard Kevin Overton announced Tuesday via Instagram his intention to return to Auburn for his senior season.
This news comes as a great relief to the team after freshman forward Filip Jović entered the transfer portal earlier in the day.
With Overton’s announcement, he becomes the first Tiger to declare his return for next season. After a season in which Auburn returned just one rotational player, retaining one on the first day the portal is open is a positive for Steven Pearl and his staff.

Overton is coming off an impressive junior season for the Tigers. The former Texas Tech transfer was the team’s third-leading scorer and a major defensive asset. He averaged 14.1 points and 1.1 steals per game last season.
Perhaps the biggest weapon Overton brings back to the Tigers is his shooting efficiency. He was Auburn’s most consistent 3-point shooter throughout the season, hitting an impressive 41% from long range. If he maintains that efficiency, he will likely be a pivotal part of the Tigers’ offense next season as Pearl enters his second year as head coach.

With Jović and Overton already announcing their intentions for next season, attention now turns to Tahaad Pettiford, Elyjah Freeman and Sebastian Williams-Adams, whose futures with the team remain uncertain.
