No. 22 Auburn men’s tennis season came to a close Saturday evening as the Tigers dropped their NCAA Championship second-round match to No. 11 Baylor, 4-1.
Auburn’s Billy and Freddy Blaydes battled Baylor’s Alexandru Chirita and Zsombor Velcz on the top doubles court but ultimately fell to the Bears duo, 6-3.
Baylor also won at the No. 3 position to earn the doubles point.
The Bears kept it going in singles play, claiming the opening set in five of six matches.
Billy Blaydes finished his senior campaign 20-17 in singles play and recorded 87 career victories, which ranks sixth all-time in program history.
Baylor advances to the NCAA Super Regional against Pepperdine.
