Marcelo Chierighini, a native of Brazil and Auburn swim and dive alumnus (2010-14), qualified for the men's 100m freestyle final at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics with a 48.23 semifinal time on Tuesday. Competing in the second of two heats, Chierighini led at the 50m mark with a 22.59 split - the fastest first half of any semifinalist.

First-team All-American Michael Johnson finished third in his PGA Tour debut at the Barbasol Championship on Sunday, earning $248,000 after carding a 6-under 65 final round at Grand National in Opelika, Alabama. In four days, Johnson totaled a 17-under 267, finishing a stroke behind first and second place winners Aaron Baddeley and Si Woo Kim.

The 2016 SEC Media Days concluded in Hoover, Alabama on Thursday with over 300 media members in attendance. Each year, participating media are asking to vote for a preseason All-SEC team and predicted order of finish. Thursday, media selected Tennessee to win the East and Alabama to win the West as well as the SEC Championship.

OPELIKA, Ala. -- An early morning crowd of nine faithful made their way to the 10th hole at Grand National golf course for an 8:37 tee time. Three men stepped up with their caddies prepared for their opening round at the Barbasol Championship. Darron Stiles and Tom Gillis were followed by hometown favorite Blayne Barber, a former Tiger whose family, and fans, made up seven of the followers that would trail Barber through the first nine holes.

Auburn junior third baseman Kasey Cooper and Team USA earned the silver medal at the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Sunday. Cooper and Team USA went 5-1 in the tournament, including winning the opening five games before falling to Japan in the final game, 2-1.
