Auburn assistant accepts job as UAB wide receivers coach

Casey Woods, the Auburn football director of player development, has accepted the position of wide receivers coach at UAB, according to Sports Illustrated's Thayer Evans.

Woods held the position from 2013-15, but he has been around the Auburn program longer than that.

He served as an offensive quality control assistant from 2009-11 before spending a year at Arkansas State under coach Gus Malzahn as the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator. He then returned to Auburn when Malzahn was hired as the head coach in 2012.

Woods was linked to UAB last February when he was offered the position of running backs coach for the Blazers, but he elected to stay.

The UAB football program was shut down last December, but will be reinstated for the 2017 season.
