UPDATE: More human remains found in Lee County creek, victim identified

Additional human remains were found in a Lee County creek, the Macon County Sheriff said Friday. The additional remains were found near where a detached human leg was found yesterday.

Macon County Sheriff Andre Brunson said in a press conference Friday that the remains are believed to belong to Kenneth McKency, a Macon County man who went missing in the Brownville, Alabama, area on Jan. 6.

The remains found Friday were also found in trash bags, near a Lee County Highway 159 bridge crossing Cossey Branch Creek near the Macon and Lee County line south of Auburn, the Associated Press reported. A construction worker found detached human leg yesterday.

The Macon and Lee County Sheriff's offices are now conducting a homicide investigation to determine how and where McKency was killed. The cause of death is still unknown.
