The Auburn soccer team shutout Florida Gulf Coast 1-0 to advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament Saturday night.

An early goal from Junior Haley Gerken, and strong defense gave the Tigers their 10th shutout of the season.

While senior Alyse Scott's two saves held the Eagles to only one shot in the first half, the Tigers' opponents fired off five shots in the second half, but were unable to capitalize.

Gerken's second goal of the season was off an assist from senior Tori Ball within the first 10 minutes of the match.

Scott now has 10 shutouts this season, second-most in a single-season by an Auburn player. The 10 shutouts by Auburn this year ties for the second-most by a Tiger team in a single-season.

The Tigers will travel to either Gainesville, Florida or Lubbock, Texas to face Texas Tech in the second round next Friday depending on the results of the Florida-Mercer match.
