After injuring his left knee during Auburn’s 17-9 loss to Mississippi State on Saturday, Tre’ Williams was unable to practice on Sunday.
Defensive coordinator Will Muschamp said he expects the sophomore linebacker to return to practice on Tuesday.
“He’s going to be fine,” Muschamp said in his weekly meeting with the media on Sunday. “He did not practice tonight, but we expect him back Tuesday … We fully expect him back this week.”
Williams injured his knee in the third quarter against Mississippi State and did not return to the game, though he was seen walking on the sidelines late in the game.
Williams made his second career start and recorded three tackles against the Bulldogs, including one for a loss. He has 19 total tackles in 2015 after recording 16 as a true freshman.
“He kind of struggled at first, but he’s coming along very well,” said senior linebacker Justin Garrett. “He’s going to be an excellent linebacker for Auburn in the future. I know with me, Cass (McKinzy) and Kris (Frost) leaving, he’s going to step up and be that guy in the future. It’s just nice to see him coming along so well.”
