Auburn to host Southeastern Louisiana in first round of NCAA Tournament

The 2015 Auburn soccer team has spent the season following up records. Monday afternoon, they continued to do so, this time being named the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The top seeding is the second time the Tigers have been named to the top 16 in program history.

Auburn will host the first round of the tournament at the Auburn University Soccer Complex on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m., against Southeastern Louisiana.

"I'm excited,"  said midfielder Casie Ramsier. "We finally get a home game and we get another chance to play on our home field for those seniors so we're pumped."

The Tigers and Southeastern Louisiana will face each other for the first time ever. The Lions just secured their fourth Southland Conference Tournament championship.

Auburn head coach Karen Hoppa knows the adversities of the NCAA Tournament, and is preparing for a tough Southeastern Louisiana team.

"We know it's the NCAA Tournament, so everybody is gonna be tough," said Hoppa. "They won their conference championship for a reason, they're a great team, I know their coach well. He will have them organize and they play hard and they'll play quality soccer."

The winner will move on to face either North Texas or Texas Tech on Nov. 20 to play for a spot in Sweet 16. Auburn faced Texas Tech last year in the second round of the tournament, but fell 2-1.

"I think we're just all really excited to be here, just be able to have the opportunity to even play in the NCAA's," said senior Kala Faulkner. "We're ready to have that first game and hopefully obviously move on to other ones, but our focus is really that first game and Saturday we're really excited and we're gonna hope for a big crowd."
