Baseball drops second game of series against Arkansas

Auburn dropped its second game against the 18th-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday, March 26th. After losing Friday on a walk-off single, the Tigers took the field Saturday hoping to preserve the series. Auburn fell by a score of 14-7.

Arkansas held a 3-0 lead after the fourth inning. The Razorbacks then proceeded to score five runs in back-to-back innings to take a 13-0 lead. Auburn junior Joshua Palacios was finally able to break the scoring drought for the Tigers when he hit a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh. This was Palacios’ third home run of the season and Auburn’s 18th.

Anfernee Grier extended his on-base streak to 24 games, dating back to last season. Jackson Burgreen and Daniel Roberts each had two hits on the night, with Burgreen adding 1 RBI.

Freshman pitcher Casey Mize took the loss, dropping him to 1-2 on the season. Mize allowed 3 runs in 3.2 innings. Relief pitcher Andrew Mitchell gave up 5 runs, only one of them being earned. Daniel Sprinkle and Marc Fraiser also saw action on the mound.

Auburn dropped to 11-12 on the season. The Tigers close out the series against Arkansas on Sunday at 1 p.m.
