University wins Beat Bama Food Drive

The annual Beat Bama Food Drive, which began on Saturday, Oct. 1, came to a close on Wednesday, Nov. 16. 

Auburn was announced the winner of the food drive, providing 245,722 pounds of food to the East Alabama Food Bank.

The East Alabama Food Bank took to their Twitter this afternoon to make the announcement.

"The results are in and the winner of the annual food fight is..." 

The tweet was followed by an image showing Auburn University collected 245,722 pounds of food and the University of Alabama collected 150,322 pounds.

The image included a message thanking the Auburn Family for their efforts.

"Thank you to the Auburn University Family and to the community participants for helping to fight the battle against hunger in our community," read the image.

The Beat Bama Food Drive team has been "fighting hunger and poverty" in East Alabama since 1994, raising approximately a combined three million pounds of food over the years.
