Campus Renovations

The Raymond J. Harbert College of Business and the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering are in the process of some very important campus renovations.

The College of Business is building a new graduate research building, complete with a courtyard and walkway from Lowder Hall. The walkway will serve as a new route for business students to take that is not through the parking lot. As an added bonus, Jeff Long, Chief Operating Officer for the college, says “When the building and the courtyard are finished, there will be more parking available than there was before the project began.” While the parking, courtyard and building will not be finished until Spring of 2019, the new student walkway will be completed sometime next semester.

The College of Engineering is hard at work on the Brown- Kopel Engineering Student Achievement Center, a project named after John Brown and Rosemary Kopel Brown, graduates of Auburn University and instrumental donors to the college. The Browns donated thirty million to this project. The center will be connected to the Gavin Engineering Research Laboratory building and will be a new resource for engineering students on campus. Austin Phillips, a communication specialist for the college, says the center will be home to “student study areas, tutoring and learning centers, academic advising, student recruitment and a design and innovation center.”

Both projects are set to finish in Spring of 2019.
