In spring 2017, the plans for a Panera Bread in the new Mell Classroom building were unveiled. The construction of this restaurant was a part of the building's second phase of construction, following the unveiling of the newly finished classrooms.
The decision for the Panera Bread was made based on a student vote held in early 2017. Since the finalization, students have been patiently awaiting the completion. According to the schedule, construction should be finished sometime in May 2018.
When asked about their feelings on the new Panera, a lot of students show a great enthusiasm for the new food option coming to campus.
“Since I live on campus, I have to go to
Students are excited to have access to a restaurant as popular as Panera on campus as well.
“I love Panera, but right now the closest one is about 3 miles away which doesn’t seem like a lot, but without a car on campus it is. I can’t wait to be so close to one and have such easy access to amazing food.” Said Sophie Poling,
Based on the response from the students, the Panera is expected to be very busy and packed with happy people for a long time after the doors open.
