Auburn lands top prospect from state of Alabama.

Auburn received a commitment from the state of Alabama’s top prospect on Wednesday. Phenix City Wide Receiver Justyn Ross picked Auburn over Clemson and Alabama. Auburn received his last official visit, but it was still a bit of a surprise that Ross is going to sign with Auburn. Clemson was the early favorite for a while, but Alabama was trending before today.

Ross is the biggest commitment of the day for the Tigers. He is a consensus top 50 recruit. Per Rivals, Ross a five-star wide receiver and the number two receiver in the country. As a senior at Central high school, Ross caught 37 passes for 730 yards. He recorded 13 touchdowns as well.

With the commitment of Ross, Auburn has signed four of the top five players in the state. Early enrollee Asa Martin is the number two player in the state and the number three running back nationally. Defensive tackle Coynis Miller signed today with Auburn as well, and he is the third ranked player in the state. Four-star receiver Seth Williams rounds out the top five from the state of Alabama who signed with the Tigers.

Auburn also has arguably the most impressive receiver class of 2018. In addition to five-star Ross, Auburn has snagged several highly rated commits at the position. Kodi Burns will have a lot of weapons on the outside next season with most of Auburn’s pass catchers coming back. Auburn went into Tuscaloosa and got Williams who is four-star recruit and the fifth ranked player in the state of Alabama. Bo Jackson’s nephew Shedrick Jackson out of Hoover has been a long time commitment to the Tigers. Four-star receiver Matthew Hill is also a top 150 recruit nationally. Lastly, four-star Anthony Schwartz is one of the fastest players in this entire recruiting cycle, and he played receiver in high school.
