The Auburn Circle Begins distribution, promoting art and literature

The Circle staff has been working throughout the year to produce its semiannual collection of poetry, prose, art, photography and design

Spring distribution of The Auburn Circle, Auburn's award-winning art and literary magazine, began Tuesday, April 17.

The Circle staff has been working throughout the year to produce its semiannual collection of poetry, prose, art, photography and design.

“It’s been a really great process. We have a small but really dedicated staff,” said Michelle Mandarino, editor-in-chief of The Circle.

In order to promote distribution, The Circle holds SNAPS, an event at the Red Barn that includes readings from The Circle, free food, coffee and celebration of the release.

WEGL 91.1, the campus radio station, will provide music for the event, which starts at 7 p.m. on April 17.

The Circle is distributed for free around campus to students.

“As far as the layout goes, we’re really looking at rotation and collage and just like different interpretations,” Mandarino said. “So if you look at the cover that’s different collaging and copying of some different submissions that we have in the magazine itself.”

Kristen Bledsoe, managing editor of The Circle, said that almost 3,000 copies were produced for this semester's distribution.

Bledsoe said that the beginning of distribution is going well. The staff has given out close to half of its supply already.

The Auburn Circle began producing their publication in the 1970s, Bledsoe said, and despite a short break, they have been producing art and literary content for years.

In the fall, The Circle received second place in the College Media Association's Pinnacle Awards for best four-year literary magazine of the year.
