Auburn athletics has axed six program administrators, according to reports from 247Sports and AL.com on Monday afternoon.
Among those terminated were senior associate athletic directors Bernard Hill, compliance, and David Mines, internal; chief revenue officer Michael McBride; chief communications officer Ward Swift; and executive associate athletics director Meredith Jenkins.
The firing of Jenkins comes three days after Tom Junod's ESPN piece further detailed the Auburn softball scandal. Jenkins, who was the administrator for softball, reportedly threatened players with prosecution if they did not delete the evidence of former assistant coach Corey Myers' sexual harassment of the team. Jenkins had been with Auburn since her hiring in 1994.
Hill, who had been with the University since 2006, was the sport administrator for equestrian, tennis, and track and field/cross country. Mines was over swim and dive, volleyball, gymnastics, and men's golf and had been at Auburn since 2003. He, Hill and Swift all graduated from Auburn.
On Monday, Auburn also extended the contract of men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl through the 2022-23 season. According to the reports, athletic director Allen Greene is expected to carry out further changes soon.
