At the peak of Welcome Week, students flooded the Green Space to grab an iconic Waffle House Waffle with Senior Vice President for Student Affairs Bobby Woodard.
Woodard has held his position at Auburn for the past four years, with a goal to be “the chief advocate for all students on campus”. He said that one of his hopes for the event was for students to see his face and know he was fighting for them.
Three years ago, the idea for “Waffles with Woodard” was formed with the intent of drawing students out of their residence halls to the middle of campus.
“Before I got here, they had waffles with the former person, then Waffles with Woodard worked in,” Woodard said. “When we found out there was a Waffle House truck it was a done deal."

Woodard, like most of the students at the event, has a great affinity for waffle house.
“I’m a big fan, personal fan, of Waffle House,” Woodard said. “I visit probably too much."
For his own personal touch, Woodard presented his go-to
The students were just as excited about the event as Woodard hoped they would be, with many chattering about the waffles.
“I’m glad to be out here,” said Tyler Bottomlee, freshman. “Waffle House has done a great public service."
Another freshman, Austin Childree, said he was thankful for the event even though it required standing out in the heat.
“It’s warm, but I appreciate the thought of a waffle,” Childree said.
