Noah Igbinoghene, the wide receiver turned defensive back, is headed to Miami.

The Dolphins selected Igbinoghene with the 30th pick in the first round of Thursday's NFL Draft. The Alabama native is the second Auburn to be taken in the draft, following Derrick Brown, and joins a growing list of Auburn defensive backs in the NFL.

Igbinoghene is the 11th Auburn defensive back drafted in the past two decades and looks to become the 6th currently on an active roster.

The two-year starting cornerback was recruited to Auburn to play wide receiver but after minimal playing time in his freshman year at the position, Igbinoghene began to work with the defense and became an instant impact at cornerback his sophomore season.

Because Igbinoghene’s parents were both olympic athletes, he’s had a background of olympic workouts from a young age.

Igbinoghene came to Auburn as a two-sport athlete. He competed in the SEC Track and Field Championships his freshman year and placed top 10 in the triple jump.

When Igbinoghene made the switch to cornerback at the beginning of the 2018 season, he transitioned well with five tackles and two pass break-ups against Washington in the season opener. He finished the season with 50 tackles, 11 pass break-ups, an interception and a forced fumble.

Igbinoghene entered the 2019 season with two preseason All-SEC placements. He didn’t give up a catch for 35 yards or more all season and only allowed 35 completions on the 68 times he was targeted.

Despite not recording a single interception, he recorded 42 tackles and seven pass deflections.

Igbinoghene also returned kickoffs and punts for Auburn, showing off his elusive speed and explosive athleticism. He produced over 1,000 return yards and had two touchdowns on special teams. In 2018, he earned an SEC special teams player of the week award for his game against Arkansas.

Igbinoghene joins former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and USC offensive tackle Austin Jackson as Miami's three first-round draft picks.
