After recruiting Jeremiah Pegues right out of Ole Miss' backyard, he's already one of the most intriguing players on the Auburn roster.

Listed at 6-foot-2, 298 pounds, Pegues is a grown man at tight end, and he has yet to even play in an Auburn uniform.

The possibilities don't end there, Pegues is listed as a tight end on the official roster, but has experience at defensive end and more importantly, wildcat quarterback.

With the departure of starting running back and wildcat quarterback Boobee Whitlow, the wildcat position is wide open.

Auburn already has tight ends John Samuel Shenker, Tyler Fromm, Luke Deal and fellow incoming freshman Brandon Frazier but Pegues is the group's x-factor for the 2020 season.

It was hard not to pick Frazier, who's listed at 6-foot-5, 237 pounds and could be a red zone threat for Bo Nix this season. Pegues could see the field more in his freshman season with his added versatility at wildcat quarterback and potential to play the H-back.

With new offensive coordinator Chad Morris, tight ends are expected to receive a much more significant role in the Auburn offense.

In 2019 the only Auburn tight end to record a stat was John Samuel Shenker with three receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown.

Under Morris' leadership as head coach in 2019, Arkansas tight ends combined for 45 receptions, 476 yards and five touchdowns.
