On Monday, freshman goalkeeper Maddie Prohaska was named the SEC Freshman of the Week.
Prohaska is the first true freshman goalie to start a season opener since 2009. She played 110 minutes in the double overtime game that ended in a 1-1 draw.
The freshman goalkeeper made eight saves on nine shots on goal. The lone Mississippi State goal came from a penalty kick in the 75th minute.
Prohaska was tested in the second half and the two overtime periods where she notched six of her eight saves.
The 17-year old freshman is an early enrollee from West Chester, Ohio. The Tigers and Prohaska take their show on the road to Texas A&M on Sept. 27.
