Auburn basketball will have to wait before it plays another game inside Auburn Arena.
The contest against Mississippi State originally scheduled for Tuesday night has been postponed to Thursday at 4 p.m. CST due to inclement weather, the SEC released in a statement on Monday.
In a season where postponements and cancellations are the new normal, this is the first time this season where Auburn’s schedule has been affected.
With a record-setting winter storm slamming into the central and southeastern states, Starkville, Mississippi, has been under a hard freeze warning since Sunday evening. The warning, issued by the National Weather Service will be in effect until at least Wednesday.
Mississippi State University has canceled all in-person classes and activities through Tuesday, per the University's website.
The Tigers will have five days in between games, their longest stretch without a contest since SEC play began. Barring any more weather issues, Auburn will tip-off against Mississippi State on Thursday at 4 p.m. from Auburn Arena. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
