Auburn gymnast and Olympic gold medalist Suni Lee told Pop Sugar that she was recently pepper sprayed in an anti-Asian attack while out with friends in Los Angeles, where Lee is competing on "Dancing with the Stars."

Lee and her friends were reportedly waiting for an Uber when a car drove by yelling racial slurs. As the car drove off, Lee said she was pepper sprayed on her arm.

"I was so mad, but there was nothing I could do or control because they skirted off," Lee said. "I didn't do anything to them, and having the reputation, it's so hard because I didn't want to do anything that could get me into trouble. I just let it happen."

Lee is a six-time member of the U.S. women's national gymnastics team and was the first Hmong-American to compete in the Olympics.
