Auburn quarterback Bo Nix announced he is entering his name into the transfer portal in a video posted to Instagram Sunday night.

"I have made so many decisions for Auburn, and now it's time to do what's best for me," Nix said in the video. "It's time that I move on to the next chapter in my life. To reach further goals, I've decided it's best to be a grad transfer and find a new start somewhere else. I make this decision with a heavy heart and a lot of growing pain."

From the time that Nix stepped onto the Plains, he was Auburn’s guy. He became the first true freshman quarterback to start a season opener for the Tigers since 1946 when he took the field against Oregon in 2019.

In his debut, Nix led Auburn to a comeback win and threw a 26-yard game-winning touchdown pass to Seth Williams with nine seconds left in the game.

He started every game his freshman season, leading Auburn to a 9-4 record and a memorable Iron Bowl victory over Alabama. Nix completed over 57% of his passes his freshman year, throwing for 16 touchdowns and six interceptions.

As a freshman, he also added seven rushing touchdowns, trailing only Bo Jackson for most by a freshman all-time in Auburn history.

The following year, in a COVID-stricken season, Nix topped his freshman season and threw for a career-best 2,415 yards. However, he also threw a career-high seven interceptions in 11 games, leading the Tigers to a 6-5 record as a sophomore.

To kick off the 2021 season against Akron, Nix had his most accurate game of his career, completing 20 of 22 passes and tossing three touchdowns. After two games, Nix had accumulated 383 yards passing and five passing touchdowns heading into a road contest against Penn State in Week 3.

It began a tough stretch of games for the junior, as over the next four games he threw only one touchdown and was benched against Georgia State.

The lone touchdown was one for the books, a play where Nix scrambled across the field and threw a pass while surrounded by multiple LSU defenders. It hit Tyler Fromm in the end zone for a score.

Nix’s on-field journey at Auburn came to an abrupt halt a few games later against Mississippi State. Nix later revealed that he suffered a broken ankle during the game against the Bulldogs and that his season had come to a close.

Evidently, so had his Auburn career.

After a three-year career, Nix can be found in the record books for Auburn quarterbacks. He’s tied for fifth in touchdown passes, third in yards passing, and he is the all-time Auburn leader in total offense.

Nix graduated from Auburn in the fall and still has two years of eligibility remaining. He can also elect to enter the NFL Draft.
