The votes are in, and Behind The Glass has been named “Best Boutique” for 2023 Plainman's Choice. The Auburn community has spoken, and this boutique has left a mark on the town. The boutique, which remains a shopping staple for many women in the Auburn community, offers a wide selection of hip, contemporary clothes, along with accessories and jewelry.
“Behind The Glass was the first boutique I went to at Auburn. I automatically knew that this would be my favorite shop because of the beautiful outfits I witnessed. I’m a fashion major at Auburn, so I always appreciate a good wardrobe. Their dresses are probably one of my favorites because I love the pop of color they always incorporate,” said junior Kaitlyn Reedy.
Behind The Glass is special because it has something for everyone, whether that be the shop's luxurious decorations or its clothes that make women feel confident in their own skin while enhancing their beauty. Donna Young, who came to Auburn in 1974 to study art and English, has always had a strong passion for fashion. This is what inspired her to begin her shop in the Loveliest Village on the Plains.
“I’ve been running and reinventing Behind the Glass for almost 33 years. Picking out paint colors or designing a store display window is my idea of fun. And of course, I love fashion. Looking at the recent Vogue issue reminded me of that long-ago excitement of pursuing fashion magazines every school year and imagining who and what I could be,” said Young.
Young has experience being an Auburn student. Even though it was at a different time, she still relates to the women here. While designing clothes for the boutique, she thinks about what the community would love to wear. Behind The Glass has been around for 33 years and continues to evolve as different eras continue.
Behind The Glass remains a success because the owner has a true passion for fashion that is expressed throughout the boutique and keeps clients coming back. As you walk through the doors of Behind the Glass, you’re greeted by a friendly face that will want to help you find what piece you feel most confident in.
