2024 was a year of championships, attendance records and historic starts for Auburn Athletics’ 17 programs. With the calendar year coming to a close the Auburn Plainsman sports section takes a look back at the highlights from the last 12 months.
Below is an excerpt from each Auburn Plainsman story that documented the historic moment from this past year:

“Just seven games into the 2024-25 season, the Tigers have picked up three wins against AP top-12 opponents, four wins over top-30 Kenpom teams, a Maui Invitational championship and could very likely find themselves ranked inside the top two come Monday afternoon in what’s been a historic start to Bruce Pearl’s 11th season at Auburn.”
Football upsets No. 15 Texas A&M in four-overtime thriller
“Freeze and the Tigers finally got over the hump in a four-overtime thriller defeating No. 15 Texas A&M 43-41 on a magical night inside of Jordan-Hare Stadium that ended in a field storming – marking Auburn’s first win over a power-four team with a winning record during Freeze’s tenure.”

Women’s Basketball upsets No. 7 LSU, breaks attendance record
“With an 0-3 record in conference play, Auburn faced the seventh-ranked LSU Tigers on Sunday. After what was a back-and-forth contest the entire game, Auburn pulled off the upset win 67-62.
“Auburn hosted the LSU Tigers in front of the largest crowd in Auburn women's basketball history in Neville Arena as 7,720 people gathered in Auburn to witness these two Tigers face off, with a good showing from both fanbases.”
Equestrian captures another SEC championship
“Auburn equestrian clinched its sixth consecutive Southeastern Conference title and first under the leadership of head coach Jessica Braswell on Saturday.
“Facing competition from the top-seeded Texas A&M Aggies on their home turf at the Hildebrand Equine Complex in College Station, Texas, the Tigers won the title with a resounding 13-6 victory.”
