On Sept. 10, 2025, AUPD responded to a call, citing a disturbance on E. Glenn Ave, outside of Chappy's Deli and CVS. On their website, AUPD released a statement regarding the situation. It reads as follows.
"On Sept. 10, 2025, Auburn Police received a report of an assault that occurred in the area of the 700 block of East Glenn Avenue. Opelika Police Department officers made contact with a 36-year-old male victim in Opelika who presented an injury consistent with being assaulted with an edged weapon. [...] the victim was transported for medical treatment for a non-life-threatening injury. There were no calls reporting this incident prior to Opelika Police initiating contact with the victim. Auburn Police responded to the area of the crime and located the crime scene. After further investigation, it was determined that this incident was not random and stemmed from a dispute between parties that were known to each other. [...]"
