Jackson Morse is the 2026 candidate for Student Government Association (SGA) Treasurer. Morse will be on the concourse this week with other candidates in the SGA election race.
Morse, a junior majoring in finance, currently serves as the Director of Financial Projects and AVP of Financial Projects within SGA. His campaign, “Money on Morse,” focuses on improving the financial literacy of the Auburn student body, optimizing SGA’s budget and prioritizing the individual student.
While sharing his experience at Auburn, Morse noted how the university has readied him for this role.
“My time at Auburn has been very formative, and the school has given me more than I could have ever imagined,” Morse said. “The opportunity to give back to the place that has given me so much is incredibly exciting. SGA has always been a place where I have been welcomed and challenged to become the best version of myself that I can be.”
Financial literacy is at the heart of Morse’s platform and he plans to help students learn how to budget, save and invest.
“I believe financial literacy is one of the most important skills any student could be equipped with when graduating college and entering the real world," Morse said. “I want to add a personal finance class to the Auburn University core curriculum so that every student graduates ready to take on our financially complex society. I also want to look at the possibility of exploring an investment initiative that peer institutions have made available to their students.”
Focused on optimizing the budget of SGA, Morse notes that eliminating unnecessary costs is the key to success if he is elected.
“I am not afraid of change, but am rather motivated by finding new ways to optimize our spending to get more out of the students’ activity fee dollars,” Morse said.
Improving the individual student experience is another focus of his campaign. Morse acknowledges the increasing infrastructural challenges at Auburn, including parking and housing, and hopes to address them as treasurer.
“It seems Auburn is growing close to reaching its capacity for what it can support while still retaining the Auburn family feel that is what makes this place what it is,” Morse said. “While increasing class sizes benefits the university in many ways, it would benefit the individual current student to mitigate large increases in enrollment to preserve Auburn as the loveliest village on the plains.”
Morse has closely worked with the previous two SGA Treasurers, Will Goodner and Hailey Bergenthal, before beginning his campaign and has been active in SGA since his freshman year. He is confident Auburn students will benefit from his potential incumbency as SGA Treasurer.
“By putting their ‘Money on Morse’, students invest in their financial future while also prioritizing their current time at Auburn,” Morse said.
Jackson Morse is the only candidate for 2026 SGA Treasurer. The election will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, and voting will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at aub.ie/sgavote.
