A third Tuskegee man has been arrested in connection to the Opelika daycare fires that occurred in early January.
As of Feb. 24, 2026, Terrence Kareem Johnson was arrested on two counts of second degree arson. This is the third arrest in relation to these fires, the first two being Michael Leon Green and Dante Kharari Brundidge who were arrested on Feb. 18 and 19, respectively.
Opelika Police Department (OPD) worked alongside the Alabama State Fire Marshal's office, Opelika Fire Department and the U.S. Marshals to make these arrests and investigate the arsons.
During the investigations, mason jars filled with "an accelerant" were found at both sites of the fire. From this evidence, investigators could identify Green and Brundidge. No information was released with details on how the department identified Johnson.
If any further information is known, OPD encourages contact at: (334) 705-5220, or submit a tip through their mobile app.
