An individual suspected of shooting a man at the Yugo North apartment complex on March 2 is currently on the run and believed to be "armed and dangerous," according to police.
Melvin Sabas Alexander Hernandez Davila, commonly referred to as Alex, was identified as a suspect by police. After investigating the initial situation, authorities obtained a warrant for him regarding first degree robbery and attempted murder. Investigators confirmed that Hernandez Davila and the victim were previously acquaintances, and that the attack was not random.
Hernandez Davila was last seen with a dark beard, a dark hoodie and pants. He is suspected to remain armed, and if seen, should not be approached. If citizens do come into contact with the suspect, they are asked to dial 911.
The victim remains in stable condition at Piedmont Columbus Regional.
The Auburn Police Department asks anyone with information related to the investigation or Hernandez Davila’s whereabouts to contact them at (334) 501-3100. Reports can also be made through call or text to their tip line at (334) 246-1391 or by emailing police@auburnalabama.org.
