There are countless opportunities to show your fashion sense during college, such as socials, parties, dates, interviews, receptions and even those days you need to look good to feel good.
Most people go to the library to study with friends, or because the 4th floor keeps them more focused than they would be elsewhere. I use the library for studying the majority of the time, but I also use RBD for its archives and extensive book collection. The first time I checked out a book was for one of my history papers sophomore year, but I have used the library for more than just studying ever since. At first, it seemed kind of strange to walk through the rows of books because I hadn’t checked out a book in college, but it was so easy to find what I was looking for. The organization system is straightforward and you can always ask someone at the reference desk if you get stuck. You can even get the book’s call number texted to your phone, so you will have it to refer back to when you’re looking for it. I almost always end up checking out more books than I need because I see an even more interesting book right next to the one I was initially searching for. However, most of my friends have never checked out a single book from the library and I feel like they are truly missing out. There are books and online articles about almost everything and you can always use Interlibrary Loans to get something that is not found on Auburn’s campus. I know most people don’t have time for casual reading with their academic load at Auburn, so I would also recommend using some of the online journal databases like J-Store. I have used academic journals for multiple classes and subjects. By going through the Auburn Libraries page on the Auburn website it makes it easy to find peer reviewed, legitimate journals that can be used for projects and reports. Another great feature of RBD beyond the whiteboard and the multiple study booths, is the archives and special collections. They have great primary sources and everyone that works there is so eager to help you. If you are interested in the history of Auburn there are fascinating sources, not to mention they have really cool book of large Audubon prints. No matter what your major is, it’s my opinion that everyone should use at least one of the many resources that Ralph Brown Draughon Library has to offer.
In 2011, I moved from Boston to be closer to family who had relocated to Auburn.
How many times has someone said to you, “Stay in college as long as possible?” It is a phrase I heard over and over again my first four years in college. A phrase that looking back on now, I wish I had never listened to, because being a fifth year is not all its cracked up to be.
Auburn fans have held out hope of their Tigers eventually snapping out of their early-season funk and going on to become the great team they were made out to be in the preseason.
Auburn — the Loveliest Village on the Plains, right?
Football season has started! Many people don’t know what they’re going to wear to the games, and some just don’t care.
There has been a time in my life where I have questioned what it truly is to be generous. To act in complete selflessness for someone or something, in this case, a noble cause. Is it possible? Or are we to live in constant obscurity from inevitable ego? I’ve witnessed many actions I deem inherently as such in my short lifetime of 18 years, but nothing so blatantly charismatic and tender as the man who directly opposed the social order of traffic midst a sultry summer highway as the deliverer of justice and demigod of goodwill.
Auburn University is a challenging school, and it can be hard to balance the work of just one major, so many people are confused as to why I have two.
For many of us college students, we don't necessarily know who we are yet. You would think 21 or 22 years would be enough for us to figure it out. It's not.
For most of my life, I’ve heard that college is a time to go crazy before the real world begins. This doesn’t just mean drinking. Boys are always in the picture.
Volunteering is an extracurricular activity that many college students feel required to do in order to be competitive candidates for their professional schools or jobs after Auburn. I have volunteering with many different groups at Auburn and I have learned a lot from my experience.
Technology has many benefits and is on the fast track as far as innovation. If we are able to take a step away from it, though, we might notice the harm it is causing our generation.
I wasn’t fortunate enough to have been born in the South, but it has definitely become my home. Having the opportunity to live in Texas and Alabama, I would like to say that I have become a Southerner by choice. Spending the majority of my 22 years in New England, I frequently heard stories of how racist the South is, and stuck in its bigoted ways. Having travelled throughout what was once the Confederate States and meeting many people from all colors and backgrounds, I can’t accept this as fact.
Picture an athlete bulldozing through a defender over and over again. The defender goes home to find out that their knees and elbows are completely scraped up, while the athlete bulldozer goes home to the highlight reel of their performance. Now imagine someone driving down an old road with potholes, bent signs and graffiti everywhere. In both cases, it appears someone left their mark.
My father taught me it is the job of every U.S. citizen to vote, and that is a belief I carried with me when I decided to vote here at Auburn. In 2012, the first election I could vote in, I assumed everyone was excited about participating in our democracy on a national level.
Football has long been the primary sport at Auburn and at other schools throughout the Southeast, but occasionally other sports step up and steal the spotlight.
There was something strange about the spaghetti. It was spicy.
Over the past few years, my Facebook newsfeed has evolved rapidly into a catchall of my peers’ engagements, wedding announcements, babies, “My boyfriend will be the best husband,” anniversaries and kitschy seasonal couple photos.
