Wednesday, Sept. 24, the Office of Sustainability partnered with the Ralph Brown Draughon library Innovation and Research Commons to introduce Create and Cultivate, just one event in the MiniMake series. Held from 5 to 7 p.m., the event promoted sustainable crafting and horticulture by inviting participants to bring ceramic mugs and leave with an up cycled planter filled with its own greenery.

The Auburn Tigers Cross Country team will be heading to Columbia, Missouri this week to compete in the Gans Creek Classic hosted by the University of Missouri. The Tigers have held steady this year, finishing in the top 5 at each meet and even winning the women's team title at the Foothills Invitational. Auburn competed in the Gans Creek Classic last year, taking gold in the women's six-kilometer race. This year, Auburn is seeking to maintain its momentum with strong early-season finishes and hopes to continue this trend in this meet.

Auburn men's basketball head coach Bruce Pearl is reportedly retiring, according to ESPN's Jeff Borzello. His son, Steven Pearl, 38, will take over immediately as the Tigers' head coach. Steven has served as the team’s associate head coach since 2023.

As a preface to the article, I would like to mention that I wrote and edited this article prior to the two on-campus shootings earlier this month in Utah and Colorado. I could write for hours about the media instilling division through these events or the overshadowing of the school shooting in Colorado by the Charlie Kirk assassination, but in the end, I believe the largest message comes from how outdated this article immediately felt after only one week. We’re in a time when shootings that happened only three weeks ago are forgotten about because of our culture's need for constant relevancy and stimulation. I just hope we don’t move on from the current problems at our hands and address our problems head on.

The Auburn University Brain Imaging and Ethanol (AUBIE) Lab is located in the research park off South Donahue Drive, just a few miles from main campus. The centerpiece of the AUBIE lab is a powerful 7 Tesla MRI, one of only a handful in the country. With the power to create a magnetic field more than five times stronger than a typical 3 Tesla machine, this cutting-edge technology allows the researchers to get clearer images of the brain than ever before.

In July 2025, the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering’s namesake and the Ginn Family Foundation announced their commitment of $30 million to form a new scholarship program, the largest donation in school history. The program, which will make up around 40 scholarship awards, will cover expenses, such as room and board, fees and tuition. The donation surpassed the family’s previous donation of $25 million, which, at the time, was the largest gift to a higher education institution in the state of Alabama.

BrainSTEM is a new student organization at Auburn University that seeks to assist all neurodivergent students, who may especially struggle during this transition, with achieving their goals, while providing a community consisting of other self-identifying neurodivergent students.

For the past two years, Auburn University’s College of Agriculture has conducted research to help peach farmers combat a crop-destroying disease: bacterial spot. Led by Dr. Edgar Vinson, assistant extension professor at the Chilton County Research & Extension Center in Clanton, Alabama, researchers aim to utilize a type of virus called a bacteriophage to counter bacterial spot.
