On Thursday, Sept. 11, environmental justice activist Catherine Coleman Flowers visited Auburn University to present her book "Holy Ground," in which she discusses the relationship between environmental issues, civil rights, social justice and faith.
Despite the schools being just 223 miles apart, the Auburn Tigers and South Alabama Jaguars have never played in football.
This coming Saturday, the Auburn Tigers will attempt to begin the football season 3-0 for the first time since 2023.

The Auburn Tigers play Florida State on Friday, Sept. 12, in Neville Arena at 6 p.m. CST. The match will stream on SEC Network+. The Tigers then hit the road to play at Tully Gymnasium on Sunday in Tallahassee, Florida, at 1 p.m. CST for the Seminoles’ first home match of the season.
Five candidates will compete to become Miss Homecoming 2025. Beginning with the Sept. 9 kickoff, candidates will represent their campaigns Tuesday through Friday and meet with students on the Haley Concourse. Voting is open to all Auburn students and will take place on Friday, Sept. 12 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The following day, on Saturday, Sept. 13, the winner will be announced at half-time during the homecoming football game against the University of South Alabama.
On Thursday, Sept. 11, the East Alabama Regional Training Association hosted the non-profit Tunnel to Towers Foundation and its 9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibit in Opelika. As its first arrival in Alabama, the exhibit serves as a tribute to the lives lost in the 9/11 terrorist attacks and will continue to be displayed until Sept. 16.

Following a 2-0 victory against Utah Valley on September 1st, Auburn (4-2-1) routed Florida Gulf Coast University (2-3-1) 5-0 at home to close out non-conference play.
With starting running back Damari Alston sidelined with a shoulder injury, fans wondered how Auburn’s running back room would fare against Ball State. Alston had taken over Jarquez Hunter’s mantle and was the leading rusher for Auburn against Baylor last week. However, the Tigers' running backs brought the heat last night, contributing half of Auburn’s 42 points.
Following Auburn’s season-opening win at Baylor, many questioned whether the Tigers’ defense had regressed from its 2024 form.
The Auburn offense started off sluggish but found its groove en route to a 42-3 win against Ball State in its first home game of the year. The Tigers offense led by Jackson Arnold amassed 271 total pass yards along with 224 rush yards but the real story of the night for the team was the defense who was unwavering allowing only five first downs and 68 yards in total on the night.
