However, Franklin's first visit wasn’t just meeting with an advisor or scheduling a Zoom call like it is for students today. In fact, to get to the Office of Registration, Franklin had to be escorted by FBI agents to ensure his safety.

Auburn has more than 150 years of history transforming college students into military officers. During that time between 14,000 and 18,000 young men and women have left The Loveliest Village on The Plains to become officers in our Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Space Force. Auburn University began its official military training program in 1872 as part of the Morrill Land-Grant Act. At the time, all males attending Auburn had to participate in the program for at least two years.

Auburn gets their first SEC victory at home in front of a packed Neville Arena atmosphere in dominant fashion by a score of 95-73. The Tigers went into the game an underdog as they came in unranked seeking their first conference win while the top 15 Razorbacks were undefeated in conference play. The doubt towards the Tigers certainly fueled them as they played with an energy unseen so far this season as they took a lead early and further poured it on as the game continued.

The Auburn Tigers dropped their SEC opener in Athens in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday afternoon, losing in an overtime thriller against No. 23 Georgia 104-100. Even with the Tigers mounting a miraculous late-game comeback, crucial turnovers and clutch shots from the Bulldogs led to Georgia escaping its home arena with a win. This loss comes as the Tigers’ third in their last five games, but it also gives them some hope for the future as the SEC season progresses.
