Auburn junior third baseman Kasey Cooper and Team USA earned the silver medal at the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Sunday. Cooper and Team USA went 5-1 in the tournament, including winning the opening five games before falling to Japan in the final game, 2-1. Cooper reached base in the top of the seventh after being hit by a pitch and represented the go-ahead run, but Japan retired the next two batters to end the contest.
An SEC schedule includes teams with many of the nation's top players housed in each roster. The commissioners of the five power conferences announced on Thursday, an agreement in concept on changes they will propose that are intended to give student-athletes more time off. The purpose of the changes is to rebalance the student experience between athletics and campus life, allowing athletes to explore other interests they may have while in college.

Auburn's Zane Grothe swam in lane two at the men’s 1500-meter freestyle finals on Sunday, closing out the trials in eighth place. The Auburn record-holder for the 500-, 1,000 and 1650-yard freestyles, Grothe clocked the fifth-fastest time (15:11.72) in the 1500m freestyle Saturday afternoon during prelims at the USA Swimming Olympic Trials in Omaha, Nebraska. Grothe already swam in the finals of the 400-meter freestyle and finished in fourth place. Auburn swimming and diving has had eight current and former athletes qualify for the Olympics.
The Women's Golf Coaches association named Auburn sophomore Kelli Murphy an All-American Scholar, the WGCA announced Tuesday. Murphy was one of 828 golfers nationwide to receive the recognition.
