Former Auburn running back Tommy Lorino passed away Monday, the university announced in a press release. The former Tiger averaged a 8.44 yards a carry in 1956, was a member of the 1957 national championship team and the undefeated 1958 Tigers. "After that Tennessee game, Coach Jordan never lost confidence in him, his teammates never lost confidence in him, he never lost confidence in himself," said former Auburn athletics director David Housel.
The Southeastern Conference announced its 2016 Baseball Awards and All-SEC Teams on Monday. In the second game of a double header in Nashville, Tennessee, the Vanderbilt Commodores (40-15, 17-12) gave the Tigers more than they could handle in a 9-3 rout.
A strong offensive start for the Tigers was not enough to push them to victory in game one of Thursday’s double header in Nashville as they fell to Vanderbilt 5-2. The Tigers were without senior Jordan Ebert and junior Niko Buentello in game one after the two were benched due to a violation of team rules.
Auburn softball's Emily Carosone, Kasey Cooper, Tiffany Howard, Carlee Wallace and Jade Rhodes were each named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region teams, the organization announced Thursday. Forty-eight student-athletes from the Southeastern Conference have received 2016 NFCA Division I All-Region awards.
