Voting is one of American’s greatest rights — a right many Americans had to fight to receive. So when candidates running for office do anything that might devalue the institution of voting, it calls into question how much these candidates truly care about the Americans within their constituencies. As the fifth-highest-paid coach in college football, it would seem as though Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn should be performing as though he deserved a salary so high. He’s not.
Reporting an assault gives a survivor dignity. It allows them for their voices to be heard and for them to take a stand against their abuser. There is no perfect time to report an assault, except for when the victim is ready to come forward.
As Gus Malzahn put it, “It’s a new day in college football.”
Auburn University’s Office of Sustainability is making waves of green around campus as they lead the eco-friendly charge, and that’s a positive thing.
"For every member of the Auburn family and visiting fan to feel welcome on this campus, Auburn must move to uphold its professed inclusivity and sense of family."
Hazing is quite simply an attack on human dignity. It is an unnecessary and indecent act committed by people in a position of power. There is no need nor a reason for hazing to occur.
Auburn students, it is time to register to vote, attend City Council meetings and engage in discussions with the community at large.
