This Saturday, Toomer's Drugs hosted an event run by The Oaks Agency Student Public Relations firm. The event was for pet owners in the community to get free photos and merchandise for their dogs.
In September, Esperanza House partnered with Opelika City Schools to bring a sister tutoring program to the area for Hispanic children and families. Esperanza House was founded in 2015 as a nonprofit organization to serve Hispanic children and families in the Auburn community.
Lee County Humane Society said it faced more a higher number of intakes this summer, and people returning pets they adopted earlier in the pandemic could be a cause.
Kimberly Johnson, study skills teacher at Auburn Junior High School who was selected Alabama Teacher of the Year, said she builds relationships with students to see them succeed.
