International student gender disparity linked to STEM field gender gap

Though the student makeup of Auburn University is split almost straight down the middle — half men, half women — there are nearly twice as many male international students as women international students at Auburn. Just last fall, the University created Auburn Global, an office tasked with bringing an influx of undergraduate international students to campus, and it partnered with Shorelight Education, a company that funds and manages universities’ international goals. Auburn Global plans to increase the number undergraduate international students from 2015’s 317 to 1,000 students by 2020, said Associate Provost J.
