Auburn Board of Trustee update

A bill passed May 31 by the Alabama State Senate will allow Alabamians to vote on a plan to revise the makeup of the Auburn University Board of Trustees.

The board currently consists of 14 members and would increase to 15 with the plan.

Senate Bill 510 would change the number of at-large seats from three to five. It would decrease the amount of district seats from nine to seven, which would reflect the current district lines. One member from Lee County, the governor and the immediate past president of the Auburn Alumni Association would round out the proposed board makeup.

An additional change would put a two-term limit on board members. Terms last seven years.
