Making the decision as to where you receive higher education is an extremely difficult one, while simultaneously being one of the most important. Loads of thought are put into it, not just because you want to make the right choice, but also because you're afraid of making the wrong one.
As the fall semester kicks off once more, some begin to think twice about their college decision. Here are four reasons to reassure you that Auburn University was the right choice.
1. Auburn gives you the tools you need to be successful.
From Camp War Eagle to Learning Communities, the University offers scores of resources to help students. It's no wonder students perform so well.
According to College Factual, a website that collects and analyzes important data on colleges and universities, Auburn has a nationally competitive graduation success rate, sitting at a whopping 74.8%.
If you're worried that your membership in extracurricular activities might put your achievement in jeopardy, worry not, because back in 2013, student athletes at Auburn achieved a 75% graduation rate.
Keep in mind, these statistics compare to a Federal Graduation rate that typically floats somewhere around 60%.
2. After college, Auburn alumni go on to change the world.
People that aren't familiar with Auburn's international reputation are often surprised when they hear the names of celebrities who once called Auburn University home. Some of these names include Cam Newton, Bo Jackson, and Pat Sullivan (all recognizable names in the realm of sports). Beyond the scope of athletics, one may recognize the names of Ken Mattingly, Kathryn Thornton, and James Voss, all members of the long list of astronauts who received their education from "The Loveliest Village on The Plains".
One of the most notable alumni of the University is Tim Cook, the current Apple CEO.
"Auburn has played a key role in my life and continues to mean a lot to me," Cook said at a commencement speech.
3. Auburn is just plain fun.
There is never a shortage of things to do as an Auburn student, and the opportunities for one to get involved in campus life are plentiful. According to Auburn University Student Services, Auburn houses more than 300 student organizations.
For those days that you want to get away from it all, there are even things to do outside of campus! Just about ten minutes from the campus are the cities of Auburn or Opelika. If you really want to get away, you could commute to Chewacla State Park, which is positioned conveniently about 15 minutes away from campus.
4. Auburn is one big family.
It doesn't take long to feel the overwhelming sense of family that Auburn conveys. Whether it is the friendly faces of your CWE Camp Counselors or the energy and tradition of game day, you're sure to find that Auburn is a great place to call a temporary home. If you let loose and make the best out of your experience at Auburn University, you'll start to resonate with our creed.
