What started as a brothel in the mid-1940s transformed into a club for generations of Auburn students to enjoy. After closing in 2015, War Eagle Supper Club has been reborn as a restaurant on the rooftop of the Graduate Hotel.
On Feb. 7, Staks Pancake Kitchen collaborated with Spoonlight Ice Cream to celebrate National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. Customers were able to try specialty menu items, sample unique flavors and purchase a pint of ice cream for any flavors they enjoyed.
From a display stand in the corner of a coffee shop to a brick and mortar store, record store 10,000 Hz has built community in the Auburn-Opelika area through music. These events serve to build community through music. In the Auburn-Opelika area, where record stores are scarce, 10,000 Hz has filled this hole by uniting listeners of all backgrounds.
Students from Auburn’s Electrical Engineering Department have spent their summer and fall semesters devoted to research projects. Some students have been continuing work they began during a summer research program, while others started working with professors this fall.
With the holidays approaching, this is a season of practicing gratitude, giving back and eating delicious food. For many in East Alabama though, food insecurity complicates the season. Food insecurity, the lack of reliable access to affordable and nutritious food, affects at least 16% of Lee County. In times of need, Auburn offers plenty of ways to get involved and give back to the community.
This fall, the Love Does in Action club launched in Auburn. The club focuses on loving one another through acts of kindness, from buying a stranger a coffee to hosting community events for underserved families.

A masked killer plagues the fictional town of Woodsboro, California, often using phone calls to taunt victims. Taking place in the 1990s, the killer is untraceable, and help is further than just an emergency call on a cell phone. Constantly referencing infamous horror movies and the “rules” to survive a scary movie, the characters tend to still fall into the stereotype of dumb teenagers running straight to the killer. This is “Scream,” the pinnacle of tongue-in-cheek horror. “Scream” allows audiences to connect with the characters and root for them, while also providing ample opportunities to laugh at the meta moments in the film. Whether you are a horror movie fanatic or someone easing into the genre, “Scream” will not disappoint.
Located in the Harbert College of Business, the Lowder Center for Family Business and Entrepreneurship is home to four entrepreneurship programs. These programs are accessible to all Alabama residents at every stage of the entrepreneurial process, from having a business idea to running their own company.
College is a time for self-exploration and finding oneself. Whether students are decorating their own apartment or preparing for their first night out, there are so many ways to learn about their likes and dislikes. To do this on a student budget can be tricky, however. Thankfully, Auburn has no shortage of thrift stores carrying everything possible, from t-shirts to kitchenware to CDs.
